The Police in Makhado outside Thohoyandou have launched a massive manhunt for a group of armed suspects who have attacked and blew up a cash-in-transit vehicle with explosives along the N1 North of Louis Trichardt this afternoon.

It is alleged that today, 19 February 2018, at about 16:30 near Hendrick Verwoord Tunnel, a cash-in-transit vehicle was traveling from Musina when a Toyota Double Cab GT6 overtook it and subsequently started shooting continuously until the driver made a U-turn trying to save their lives, unfortunately there were other oncoming vehicles which were also shooting at them aiming at the tyres causing the cash-in-transit vehicle to come to a standstill.

This group of suspects blew up the safe on this security vehicle, robbed an undisclosed amount of cash before they fled the scene.

During this incident, one security officer was shot and injured but there were no fatalities.

The suspects in this matter were traveling with a Toyota Double Cab GT 6 white in colour, a Black M.L Mercedes-Benz, a Dark blue bakkie (make not clear) and a white Mercedes-Benz sedan, they are still unknown and there is no arrest.

There Police investigations are continuing.

Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects in this matter, can contact Captain Richard Boshomane at 079 894 5501 or Crime Stop on 0860010111 or SMS Crime Line at 32211 or the nearest Police Station.
