Police clamp down on domestic violence

Tarlton- A 23 year old male was arrested after he allegedly assaulted his 21 year old girlfriend. It is alleged that on Tuesday the 13th of March 2018 at approximately 06:45 the SAPS responded to a complaint from a concerned member of the community. It was alleged that a known male was assaulting a lady at Matshelapad informal settlement.

The police members immediately responded to the call, as domestic violence matters are treated with urgency.  Upon arrival at the given address, the members discovered a bloody scene. The victim and the suspect were both found on the premises. The victim was reluctant to lay a criminal case against her boyfriend, therefore the SAPS members took it upon themselves to arrest the 23 year old boyfriend.

It is alleged that the victim was turned into a punching bag throughout the night. SAPS members are mandated to open cases of domestic violence if they are confronted with cases such as these.

At no stage shall we tolerate lawlessness and we will ensure that those who violates the rights of women and children will face the full might of the law"
