Court update: Police intercepts a possible vehicle theft syndicate

The arrested suspect in this matter ,Ronald Chisana from Mambedi Valdezia outside Thohoyandou have today appeared before the Vuwani Magistrate Court on a charge of possession of suspected stolen vehicles.

His case was postponed until 23 April 2018 for further Police investigations with no bail.

In the Levubu Policing area outside Thohoyandou, a sting operation was conducted after a tip-off from members of the Community on a motor vehicle theft syndicate which is operating from various Provinces.

In the process of following the tracks of this syndicate, a 3-year-old man was arrested for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles at Mashau Thenga village.

During the arrest, the following were recovered:
Five(05) tipper trucks
Three (03) water tank trucks.

These trucks are estimated at about R24 million and the preliminary Police investigations have revealed that they were stolen in other Provinces and they were allegedly en-route to be smuggled out of the country.

The origin of these trucks is still being determined through the ongoing Police investigations.
