Media Statement from Eastern Cape Media Centre The Mdantsane Cluster police, Immigration, Environmental Health and the Liquor Board embarked on another successful operation dubbed "Fiela 2", raiding numerous taverns and spaza shops in Vulindlela policing precinct today. Through the firm and stern discipline enforced by our officers, they were able to put rest to many illegal operations and unlawful citizenships where 12 suspects were arrested for various crimes like contravention of the immigration act, possession of dagga, possession of counterfeit cigarettes around NU 8, 9, 11 and 12 areas in Mdantsane. Successfully confiscating illegal tobacco, quantifying to the value of R4750 from illegal immigrants. Confiscating illegally sold liquor from the taverns in NU8 and 9 and as well at highway containers. This alcohol amounts to an estimated quantity of 32. 724 litres. In the process a 49-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of four dagga bompies. Police went on to confiscate 23 dangerous weapons, 13 knives, screwdriver and scissors during a stop and search patrol. The Liquor Board has issued warnings to three taverns for noise that was formally reported to their offices by the community members.
