Media Statement from Western Cape Media Centre The Lwandle police have opened a case of possession of a firearm and ammunition without licence and an attack on police on 2018-05-04. Police were performing their normal patrol duties when they followed a red Toyota Tazz motor vehicle of which the driver was behaving suspiciously by skipping a red traffic light. This occurred on the corner of Onverwacht road and Mecheal Street in Strand. A high speed chase ensued and police stopped the vehicle. As they approached the vehicle, two suspects who were sitting at the back jumped out of the motor vehicle and ran, while firing shots at the police. No injuries were sustained. Police searched the vehicle and found a firearm without a licence and ammunition.
