Media Statement from Limpopo Media Centre The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba has noticed with serious concern the tendency of learners who are being taken out of the school premises and used in protest actions by adults who want to achieve their ulterior motives. To deal with these tendencies and other criminal activities, the Province is today the 25th May 2018 conducting an Imbizo in Moletlane area near Zebediela outside Lebowakgomo in the Polokwane Cluster led by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner HR Major General Christine Morakaladi. The event is also being attended by the host Cluster Commander of Polokwane Major General Sam Mokgonyana supported by the Seshego Cluster Commander Major General Mashilo, Mahwelereng Cluster Commander Brigadier Mkhabela, the Provincial Heads and Station Commanders in partnership with the Community Police Forums, Tribal Authorities, Churches, the Department of Education, the Y-Cop and members of the community in the area. The day started with a school visit briefing before embarking on the safer schools programme and the following schools were then visited:
Learners at all these schools were addressed by Senior Police Officers about basic crime prevention including how to avoid becoming victims of crime at their homes and at school. Major General Morakaladi and her entourage, conducted the main campaign at Shikwane Primary School in Moletlane Village. At this school the Caretaker, Principal Mr Mokoti briefed the SAPS Management about all the Policing related challenges. This is the school where the SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Nneke Jim Ledwaba started his elementary education. From the briefing, the campaign ensued at this school which was followed by the handing over of 15 pairs of school uniform made of shoes, jerseys and socks to the identified needy learners. Soon after visiting all the above mentioned schools, General Morakaladi and her entourage held a briefing session for the main event at Kgoshi Kekana Tribal Authority hall.
