Media Statement from Eastern Cape Media Centre The Eastern Cape Netball team is currently participating in the SAPS National Netball Championship in the Western Cape Province. The team consisting of 12 extremely motivated ladies departed to the Western Cape Province on Saturday 28th July 2018 to defend their Championship title. The competition started yesterday, 30 July 2018 at the Saldana Indoor Centre, Langebaan, Cape Town. Our team has once again delivered to the mandate, showing they are a force to be reckoned with by leading the scoreboard against the other 9 provinces with 172 points. This means that the EC “Operation Vat Alles” vision is in full swing and has wiped out the likes of Limpopo, Free State, North West and Kwazulu Natal. Team leader Ms Ursula Jagers said “We are here, - at the right place - at the right time - as the right Champs, - and We mean business”. The score tally this far: Winning All Eastern Cape vs Limpopo 52 – 14 Eastern Cape vs Free State 23 – 37 Eastern Cape vs North West 13 – 47 Eastern Cape vs Kwa Zulu natal 21 – 36 The Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Lieutenant General Liziwe Ntshinga commended the progress the team has achieved thus far. “You are already our winners and I am confident that u will continue in flying our Eastern Cape banner high. It is my believe that promotion of good sportsmanship, is an ideal opportunity for any person to develop life skills such as character, teamwork, honor, fair play, excellence, hard work and discipline. I’ve been with this team and observed their team spirit. These women have developed a competitive spirit for the sport and I am proud of them. “Continue to have Fun, Play fair and we wish you all the best for the week. But ultimately,” Remember you are already our “Winners” she added. The team will take on Head Office and Northern Cape. Let us continue to support our team. Ends.
