Media Statement from KwaZulu Natal Media Centre On 13 August 2018, members of the National Public Order Reserve Unit were conducting their duties in the Winterton area, when they received information about the suspects in possession of firearms. They went to two homesteads at Khethani and Maswazini areas, Winterton where they recovered two rifles well as ammunition. Two suspects aged 41 and 48 were arrested for possession of a firearm without a licence. The firearms have been linked to a case of house breaking that occurred in the Winterton area during January this year. The recovered firearms will be taken to ballistics to ascertain if they were used in any commission of the crime in the country. They appeared in the Colenso Magistrates’ Court yesterday, 14 August 2018. They were remanded in custody until 22 August 2018 for a formal bail application. Ends.
