NELSPRUIT - The Police in Mpumalanga gives clarity following an audio that has been circulated on social media platforms whereby a female person made allegations and claims that 27 children were abducted / kidnapped at a place called Doornkop in Middelburg in Mpumalanga Province.

In the said audio, a certain woman is said to be involved in the business of abduction of children. The narrator also explained that as soon as the abducted children are handed over to some person(s) within this dodgy business, this particular woman would be offered R10 Million in return.

The Police in Mpumalanga would like to categorically put the record straight that there is nothing of such nature and there has never been such an incident whereby 27 children were reported missing/abducted/kidnapped in the area of Doornkop, as alleged by the woman on the audio.

According to the SAPS record, there has never been a report previously, from any Police Station in the entire province of Mpumalanga whereby 27 children were reported missing/kidnapped/abducted.

Further than that, there is neither a record of a woman who was attacked by a mob after abduction or kidnapping of children in the area, as alluded on the audio.

It is regrettable that people make a mock out of serious issues of crime then post, share or forward such sensational content which have no basis of truth other than drawing the attention of unsuspecting and innocent citizens.

The SAPS challenge a person who recorded the said audio to come out clean and narrate the truth to the public rather than spreading a fabricated story which is presented as the truth.

The email address for Films and Publications Board where suspicious publications can be reported to, is Hotlineotline@fpb.org.za

In an instance where members of the public have valuable information about criminal activities, the SAPS doors are open and people are at liberty to remain anonymous by calling the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111 or send information via MYSAPSAPP. All received information will be treated as confidential.

Currently Police are definitely going after a person who had recorded and circulated the (attached) audio, which is made up of lies so that others who might consider emulating her conduct can learn a lesson.

Members of the public who knows her whereabouts are urged to come foward so that she can swiftly be brought to book.

It is against this backdrop that the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela took this allegations seriously and further warned members of the public to refrain from such conduct of posting fabricated stories on social media platforms and present them as true. "This type of behaviour tend to be gaining momentum and has become a norm nowdays. What worries us most is the tendency to perpetuate lies about criminality, a phenomenon which is of serious concern to both the state and citizens. It is even worse in this instance because police officers are alleged to be involved in trafficking of children as alluded on the circulated audio. The noble thing to do, is to immediately report to the authorities whenever one suspects that a crime has been committed, or is about to be committed, regardless of whether the one involved is a police officer or not, " said the General.
