Suspects arrested in a weekend operation

King Williams Town: More than fifty (50) suspects have been arrested around King Williams Town Cluster following the crime operation that was conducted in the policing precinct over the weekend.

The suspects  aged between 19 and 46 were arrested for cases ranging from theft, drunk & disorderly, dealing with drugs, contravention of protection order, drinking and driving, selling of liquor without licence, burglary residential, rape and assault with the intent to cause grievous body harm. Police during their stop and search confiscated thirteen (13) knives as part of crime prevention duties.

Police are continuing with these operations around the King Williams Town area and neighbouring areas decreasing the crime rate. The Police are also appealing to the communities to work with them by reporting all crime in their areas and they will catch all those breaking the law.   

All of these suspects will appear in different magistrates’ courts today and tomorrow.

King William’s Town Cluster Commander, Brigadier Luntu Ngubelanga, said police will make it a priority in ensuring that communities live in safe and secure environments. “Police will continue to intensify visibility and will conduct stop and search operations which will result in more dangerous weapons being confiscated”, he added.
