CAPE TOWN - As Women’s month draws to a close, Western Cape SAPS hosted an event to empower women in its employ at the Civic Centre in Cape Town on Friday.

Various speakers delivered addresses and presentations on a variety of topics including equality, GBV and Femicide, sexual harassment and financial management, amongst the topics.

Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt General Yolisa Matakata, senior woman managers and women from different environments within SAPS graced the occasion (observing lockdown restrictions).

Lt General Matakata in her address urged SAPS women to emulate the women who led the 1956 march by demonstrating bravery and resilience in fighting GBV and other social ills afflicting women. She also made an undertaking to lead the fight against women abuse.
