Media Statement from Directorate of Priority Crimes Investigation (HAWKS) WESTERN CAPE: Lebogang Molapo (33) and Ndubuisi Andy Okafor (34) appeared at the Cape Town Magistrates Court on Monday on a charge of trafficking in persons. They were arrested on 28 March during a joint operation conducted by the Hawks’ Anti-Human Trafficking team and the Vice Squad from the Law Enforcement team at Farnworth Street Milnerton. Molapo allegedly recruited and transported the 35-year-old victim from Johannesburg to Cape Town on 5 March 2019. The Zimbabwean born victim, who left her country of birth in a quest for job opportunity, was enticed to travel by bus with her recruiter as she could not immediately find a job in Johannesburg. On arrival in Cape Town the next day, she was taken to a house in Milnerton, kept locked up during the day, coerced into a life of prostitution and drugs by night. She was allegedly kicked out of the house on 11 March, when several assaults and threats failed to keep her totally submissive to their rules. She immediately reported the matter to the nearest police station upon her eviction. The case against the duo was postponed to 8 April for formal bail application. Ends.
