EASTERN CAPE - On Saturday, 1 June 2019, SAPS Gelvandale Tracing Team members were patrolling in Highfield Road when they spotted two male suspects.

The suspects were searched and a revolver with ammunition was found on the 22-year-old person. He was detained on a charge of prohibited possession of a firearm while the other suspect (25) was also arrested and detained on a charge of robbery. The serial number on the revolver was filed off.

After following up on further information, the 25-year-old suspect was positively pointed out by the robbery complainant. It is alleged that on Friday, 31/05 at about 08:30, the 40-year-old woman was walking near the taxi rank in Shauderville when she was accosted by two males. One had a knife and the other a firearm. She was threatened and her handbag containing cash and her cellphone was taken.

They are expected to appear in the Gelvandale magistrates’ court on Monday, 3 June 2019.
