EASTERN CAPE - Operation Shanela by Police members came with good results when they arrested nine suspects for various charges over the weekend.

Members conducted operation targeting hotspot area within the districts from Friday, 26 January 2024 till Saturday, 27 January 2024. Police were conducting stop and sesrch when they arrested a 30 year old suspect in Molteno for dealing in dagga. Police confiscated dagga to the street value of R16 800-0

In a separate incident, they arrested seven suspects (07) aged between 35 and 45 at Queenstown for drunken driving with the assistance of Traffic Officers. During their patrols they closed one shebeen for selling liquor without license. As part of preventing crime that could occur Police confiscated dangerous weapons while they were busy with stop and search in the CBD.

All arrested suspects are due to appear at Queenstown and Molteno Magistrate Courts tomorrow, 29 January 2024.
