Media Statement from KwaZulu Natal Media Centre Corporate Communication South African Police Service 18 February 2014 Siyabonga 'Joe' Ndlovu (29) of Msinga appeared in the
Pietermaritzburg High Court today, 18 February 2014, on charges of murder,
robbery and arson. He was convicted and sentenced to two life terms for two
counts of murder, 15 years imprisonment for robbery and 25 years for arson. The
accused has been in custody since his arrest in July last year. The other
suspect who was with the accused is still at large and the police are still
looking for him. On 25 July 2013, the police attended to a complaint of
a house that was on fire at Keates Drift area, Msinga. On their arrival, two
bodies identified as, Marlin Louw (88) and Njabulo Khoza (21) was found burnt
to ashes in the house. Cases of murder, arson and robbery were opened at Msinga
Police Station. The case was taken over by Greytown Cluster Task Team who
investigated the matter and arrested the accused, Siyabonga Ndlovu. The
KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Mmamonnye Ngobeni
expressed her satisfaction at the sentence that was handed down by the court.
"This sentence sends a clear message that such acts of violence are
unacceptable in our society and criminals have no place within our
