Media Statement POLOKWANE - The South African Police Service in Limpopo continues to intensify the fight against drug-related and serious organised crime through intelligence-driven operations across the province. On Tuesday, 20 January 2026, members of the Provincial Organised Crime and Narcotics Team conducted a planned intelligence-led adhoc operation focusing on drug-related activities. The operation was carried out at an identified location at Doornkraal, Annadale, in the Westenburg policing area. During the operation, a 37-year-old male suspect was arrested for possession of drugs. Police recovered the following suspected illicit substances: • One x 5 gram packet of crystal methamphetamine • Four x 1 gram sachets of crystal methamphetamine • 20 Sachets of rock cocaine The estimated street value of the recovered drugs is R2 700-00. The suspect will soon appear before the Polokwane Magistrate’s Court. Meanwhile, members of the Waterberg Flying Squad conducted an operation following intelligence received from a reliable source regarding a grey Toyota Hilux suspected to be transporting illicit goods along the Percy Five road, under Mokopane policing area. The operation was conducted between 06:00 and 18:00 on Tuesday, 20 January 2026. Upon spotting the police vehicle, the driver of the suspected vehicle abandoned it and fled into nearby bushes. A search was conducted, however, the suspect managed to evade arrest. Upon inspection of the abandoned vehicle, police discovered 186 cartons of illicit cigarettes with an estimated value of R18 500. The vehicle and the recovered cigarettes were confiscated for further investigation. Police investigations into both incidents are ongoing. Ends
