WESTERN CAPE–Our determination to remove unlicensed firearms from the communities continues to yield positive results.  Police members attached to Steenberg SAPS arrested a 32-year-old male at about 06:30 this morning who was found with an unlicensed firearm in St Alexander Circle Lavender.

The members were busy conducting crime prevention patrol due to the ongoing gang violence and shootings in the area and conducted stop and searches, when they apprehended the suspect with a CZ 9mm pistol with several rounds of ammunition in his possession.

The suspect is expected to make a court appearance in Wynberg Magistrate Court once charged for possession of unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
