PORT ELIZABERH - On Thursday, 11 July 2019, government departments in the Nelson Mandela Metro, including the SAPS, provided a very successful ‘Service on Wheels’ to the community in the Walmer Location.

About 500 people attended and were assisted by the Departments of Labour, Health, Justice, Environmental Affairs, SASSA, SAPS and the Nelson Mandela Metro. Speakers from these departments addressed the people and rolled out their services to them. Capt Johan Rheeder of Corporate Communication encouraged the community to get involved in their local Community Policing Forums and also advised them to be alert and vigilant at pension pay-outs. He appealed to them to be the eyes and ears of the police and that they should report any criminal or suspicious behaviour to the police. He highlighted certain hot spot areas and urged the community especially the elderly to be careful when walking in these areas.
