Mthatha taxi ranks raided by police

EASTERN CAPE - In an effort to create crime free taxi ranks for commuters to feel and be safe, an operation was conducted by Mthatha POP and Madeira Vispol members where stop and search and body searches were conducted at Mthatha Taxi Ranks around the CBD today.

A 32-year-old man was arrested at Ncedo Taxi Rank after he was found in possession of 40 Boss Mandrax. The operation moved to Northcrest Taxi Rank where 11 Boss Mandrax and dagga were found hidden under a container. During body searches, 29 knives were seized. The suspect will appear before Mthatha Magistrate Court tomorrow facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs.

The Acting Cluster Commander Brigadier Mandlakhe Twala commended these members and said, "Let's dominate the space and suffocate these criminals that terrorise our citizens."
