Police women operations yield positive results in Uitenhage and Humansdorp Clusters

EASTERN CAPE - Station Commander of Uitenhage, Brigadier Thandiswa Kupiso led a team of women during a successful four-hour Operation Basadi in Uitenhage on Friday 23 August 2019.

During the operation, 33 motorists were fined for various traffic offences valued R27 700. During a stop and search, four people were arrested for possession of illicit drugs. Police also closed three illegal liquor outlets. Five outstanding suspects were arrested during operations for crimes ranging from domestic violence (warrant of arrest) to common robbery. The impact of the operation was felt, as three police stations, KwaNobuhle, Kamesh and Uitenhage had no reported serious crime incidents.

A similar operation was also held in the Humansdorp cluster, which was led by Lieutenant Colonel Nothemba Ngcakana, as all women operation started with several roadblocks in strategic routes with eight motorists receiving fines valued R 7 100. Ladies in blue also visited shopping malls to distribute safety hints pamphlets.
