Media Statement NORTHERN CAPE - Operation Basadi yielded more successes in Kakamas when police pounced on the Kakamas High School and the Central Business District. On Thursday, 29 August 2019 the NC Police with all external roleplayers were addressed this morning by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner: HRM, Maj Gen Henriette de Waal as the overall commander assisted by the Provincial Head for Corporate Communications in the Northern Cape, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba and the Kakamas Station Commander, Col Boetie De Bruin. Seniors managers and commanders from provincial components as well as various SAPS units and members from Kakamas, Keimoes, Upington, Rosedale and Pabalello were deployed in the ZF Mgcawu Cluster for this operation. The team conducted a surprise visit with the assistance of Education Department at a high school in Kakamas where hundreds of scholars were searched. Police found several dangerous weapons such as scissors, mirrors and also found 14 sachets of dagga stashed inside a fire extinguisher outside a classroom. Several random persons were also stopped and searched in the CBD and two men were arrested for being in possession of suspected stolen goods and some dagga. Crimes against women and children such as domestic violence and sexual Offences was addressed at the schools by Maj Gen Henriette De Waal. Compliance visits to second hand goods premises, dealers and scrap yards were also conducted. On Friday, 30 August 2019, the Female Law Enforcement Parade will be conducted in Rosedale during which the Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul will address the female law enforcement officials.
