12 June 2014

Members of the South African Police Service who do not adhere to the organisational guidelines, regulations and the Code of Conduct while performing their duties as police officials, will be dealt with decisively. SAPS will continue to arrest, discipline and even dismiss members who participate in criminal and corrupt activities that tarnish the name and image of the organisation.

This statement was made by the Mitchells Plain SAPS Management after the arrest of a 25 year old police Constable on the morning of Monday, 09 June 2014 at about 09:05 in Westridge, Mitchells Plain. A SAPS member attached to Operation Combat received information from the public that a police official stationed at Lentegeur Police Station was at a known drug house in Harvester Way, Westridge, busy using drugs. Upon their arrival they found the off-duty Constable in one of the bedrooms in possession of tik and a glass tik lollie.

The 25 year old Constable was arrested on charges relating to possession of drugs and is due to appear in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates' Court soon.

The Mitchells Plain SAPS Management would like to thank the community for their assistance in reporting SAPS criminal activities and for their continuous assistance in the fight against crime.
