Boat capsizes, one perseon drowned: Noordhoek

PORT ELIZABETH – It is alleged that on Saturday, 12 October 2019 at about 05:00, four men were fishing in the sea in Port Elizabeth in a boat when they experienced mechanical problems. At about 09:00, the skipper alerted the fishing club that they were returning to port however before they could enter, the boat, uShaka capsized. Three managed to swim to shore however, Shaun Oosthuizen (37) from Draaifontein drowned. Police have opened an inquest.

In another unrelated incident, Humewood police have opened an inquest docket after a decomposed body of a male was found on the rocks on Friday morning, 11 October 2019. According to police information at about 11:15, a cleaner at Willow Grove, Gate 4 spotted the body and alerted police.

Police is appealing to anyone who may know of a male that is missing or has not returned home to contact D/W/O Deon Vermaak at SAPS Humewood on 041 504 5019.
