Former police Constable convicted for corruption

FREE STATE – A 37-year-old former police Constable, Monenyane Botle Mpolokeng has been convicted for fraud by the Bloemfontein Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 09 December 2019. 

Mpolokeng was arrested on 15 December 2012, following a sting operation where she extorted R2000.00 from a suspect accused of rape in order to ensure that an additional charge of possession of dagga doesn’t proceed. Mpolokeng initially received R400 from the complainant and later demanded the outstanding R1 600.00 balance which was given to her during the police sting operation.

The court has convicted Mpolokeng for Contravention of the Corruption Act of 2004. The sentencing proceedings is scheduled for 28 February 2020.
