Whittlesea Police arrested a 19-year-old man for alleged rape of a 15-year-old girl. It is alleged that the victim had gone to the tavern with her friends on Wednesday 25, December 2019 at Nqobokeni Village, Whittlesea.

She decided to go back home on Thursday, 26 December 2019 at about 03h00. The suspect pretended to be accompanying her back home. On the way the suspect allegedly raped the victim and later let her go home.

She broke the silence to mother about the alleged rape. Police acted swiftly as they traced and arrested the suspect. The suspect is due to appear before the Whittlesea Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 30 December 2019 on a rape charge. Queenstown Cluster Commander, Major General Funeka Siganga praised the Whittlesea Police for swift reaction in apprehending the suspect. She appealed to the parents not to allow their under age children to go to the taverns as they become soft targets of crime.
