Centane police arrested a 42-year-old man for the murder of his father aged 71. It is alleged that both men are staying in their common home at Krakrayo Locality, Teko Springs Village, Centane.

The accused is alleged to have hit his father with a hammer on Monday, 30 December 2019 at about 04:00. The father passed away inside his house. The motive behind the murder is not clear at this point in time. The accused was arrested on Monday, 30 December 2019. 

The accused briefly appeared before the Centane Magistrates’ Court today. He was not asked to plead to the charge of murder. The case against the accused was postponed to Thursday, 09 January 2020 for legal aid representation. The accused remained in custody.

The deceased was identified as 71-year-old Lulamile Zatu while the accused is Mampondo Zathu aged 42.
