Yesterday this office reported that 37 year-old Sergeant Florah Jiana, who was attached to the KwaMhlanga Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit, was found dead with a bullet wound on her body at Vlaklaagte, near Kwaggafontein on the day in question.

Subsequent to that, the body of the person that the police believed would assist them in the investigation was found lying in the slain member’s vehicle also with a bullet wound. The vehicle that was spotted by cattle herdsmen was found deep in the bush, not far from the Verena-Dennilton road. The member’s firearm has since been found and police are currently probing the origins of the firearm believed to have been used in both incidents.
