FREE STATE - A 25-year-old woman was stabbed with a knife and sustained multiple stab wounds on the body. The incident happened on Tuesday, 21 January 2020 at about 13:00 near Caltex Filling station, Mmamahabane in Ventersburg. Police were alerted of the incident and a 28-year-old man was arrested quickly after that.

It is alleged that prior to the stabbing and arrest, a 28-year-old male was following the victim who was walking with her colleagues.  He requested to talk to her while her colleagues continued walking. The next moment the victim was heard screaming and the suspect was then seen running away, leaving the victim lying on the ground bleeding.

On arrival at the crime scene, a used knife was shown to the police by the witness who saw the suspect throwing it away. Paramedics were called, attended to the victim and was transported to the hospital. Preliminary investigation ensued leading to the arrest of the suspect and his blood stained clothes seized for further investigation.

An attempted murder case was opened by Ventersburg SAPS members. The suspected perpetrator who is alleged to be a boyfriend to the victim, will be charged and appear at Ventersburg Magistrates' Court on the 23 January 2020.
