Media Statement WESTERN CAPE- Western Cape SAPS management welcomes the sentence handed down to Byungsu Kim and Young IL Sunwoo, both Korean citizens, who were found guilty under Act 19/1974 Section 42 for being in possession of a total of 60 397 conophytum plants with an estimated value of R24,1 million. Both accused were sentenced to six years imprisonment wholly suspended and fined R 5 million. Under POCA, confiscated money valued at R2 476 745 will be divided between the Criminal Assets Recovery Account, the Western Cape Nature Conservation Board and to the SA Biodiversity Institute.
