ZWELITSHA - The SAPS management called on the communities to stand up and find a lasting solution to the killing of women in the society. This follows after the brutal murder of a senior Manager employed by the Department of Correctional Services in the early hours of Saturday 15 February 2020, at Chris Hani Park in Mthatha.

Reports suggest that the victim was stabbed by her husband in the morning at their home. The 43-year-old wife to the suspect was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention where she passed away. The motive behind the murder is not known at this point in time, police are investigating the circumstances.

Further reports suggest that the suspect also turned the knife to himself afterwards but did not die. He was then rushed to a nearby Hospital, at Ngqeleni where he is recovering.

The deceased who is believed to be a Director at Wellington Correctional Centre cannot be named at this stage, as her relatives have not been informed of the incident. A case of murder is under investigation and the suspect is yet to be arrested soon.
