WESTERN CAPE - The vigilance of members attached to the Winelands Cluster resulted in the arrests of 15 suspects involved in taxi violence in Mbekweni yesterday, Wednesday, 25 March 2020.

SAPS members were called to Mbekweni railway station by members of the public after alleged shooting incidents occurred between taxi's at the station.

A 26-year-old bystander (woman) was wounded and a 40-year-old taxi owner driver was found deceased in a shack as a direct result of the shooting.

The taxis fled the scene, but were intercepted at the corners of New and Lady Grey Streets (Paarl taxi rank) where 13 suspects aged between 24 and 48 of Khayelitsha were arrested for the possession of an undisclosed amount of ammunition and a 9mm firearm.
