JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL - Police arrested three suspects between the age of 25 to 61 years, for kidnapping and attempted murder at Caltex garage corner Hanover and Main Reef Road on 24 May 2020 at 15:00.

It is alleged that three suspects kidnapped a 28-year-old male at Mayfair on 23 May 2020 at 19:00. A shot was fired during the kidnapping. Police received a tip-off from a community member about the whereabouts of the suspects.  They were cornered and they led the police to the house where the victim was kept and he was rescued. The firearm used in the commission of a crime was confiscated. The motive for the kidnapping is not yet known. 

Investigation is under way and suspects will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate Court on 26 May 2020.

The Johannesburg Central Station Commander commended good working relationship between the community and the police.  He further urged the community to give more information concerning crime to the police.
