The South African Police Service in Limpopo continues to work around the clock in ensuring that crime is defeated throughout its corners.

The Intelligence led joint operations compromising various Police Units, kept moving until this morning on 2018-03-05, targeting the most crime polluted areas in all the Clusters. 

These operations kept criminals on their toes until a total number of 186 suspects aged between 23 and 49 years were arrested for various offences ranging from murder, assault GBH, immigration Act, burglary residence, rape, theft, attempted murder, armed robbery, business robbery to possession of suspected stolen properties, dealing in dagga, possession of dagga and dagga plants, possession of drugs, possession of unlicensed firearms and possession of suspected stolen motor vehicles.

The operations were conducted through various methods including road blocks, stop and searches, patrols, tracing of wanted suspects, etc.

During these operations, the following items were recovered:

* 05 x Cell phones, 03 x motor vehicles, 04 x firearms, motor vehicle parts, copper cables and 40 dagga plants.

Leading by example, the SAPS Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Nneke Ledwaba took the lead during the Operation Fiela II in the Vaalwater Policing area in the Modimolle Cluster focusing on serious and violent , contact and property crimes including the liquor related crimes.

This operation was conducted through roadblocks, tracing of wanted suspects, etc. and 45 suspects aged between 20 and 44 years were arrested for offences ranging from immigration Act, possession of dagga, Illegal selling of liquor to road traffic Act on which some of these suspects were arrested by the Provincial Commissioner himself when conducting the patrols and the stop and searches .The General's physical participation in this operation was so motivating to all the functional members of the Police in that Cluster.

The Provincial Task Team also arrested a 26-year-old man at Moletjie in the Seshego Cluster following the incident where a Traffic Officer's VW Golf 6 was hijacked and his firearm was also robbed. During the arrest, one cellphone belonging to the victim was recovered.

In the Makhado Policing area, a 27-year-old man was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm within the Makhado CBD and one firearm was confiscated.

In the Musina Policing area, a 48-year-old man was arrested for unlawful possession of explosives at the Beitbridge Port of Entry during the stop and search operation where a bus travelling from Zimbabwe was stopped in the South African side, searched and 281 detonators where confiscated.

All the arrested suspects during these operations have already started appearing before different Magistrate's Courts throughout the Province.-End-
