PRETORIA – Two suspects aged 35 and 37 are expected to appear at the East London Magistrates court on Monday, facing a charge of dealing in drugs.

The two suspects were arrested on Friday during a joint operation carried out by the Hawks Serious Organised Crime Investigation team together with the Queenstown POPS members.

The team responded to an intelligence report about a drug exchange on Union Street, at the central business district (CBD) in East London.

The duo was approached and a subsequent search of their vehicle uncovered a total of 1000 Mandrax tablets and Crystal Meth (tik) weighing 201,33 grams.

The drugs worth a combined value of R86 000-00 along with the vehicle valued at R55 000-00 were immediately seized for further investigation.

One of the accused has a pending drug related charge and his bail application will be formally apposed.
