Two men appeared in the Barkly West Magistrates' Court on Monday, 4 August 2014 on a charge of murder. It is alleged that on Friday morning, 01 August 2014 at about 06:50, the body of Cycil Anthony Oliphant (36) was found lying in a veld by a passer-by. Oliphant sustained several bruises to his face and hands. Later in the day, police arrested two suspects. It is alleged that the suspects were seen with the deceased person the previous night.

The two accused, Anthony Van Rooyen (35) and Betram and Charles Mackay were charged for murder and the case is remanded to 6th August 2014.
