60 Sheep recovered from suspected thieves

KING WILLIAMS TOWN - A swift response by members of SAPS in Mount Fletcher resulted in the recovery of sixty (60) suspected stolen sheep at Pitoli locality at Kete Kete A /A on 31 July 2020 at about 00:30.

A complainant contacted the SAPS for assistance as 'a crime was in progress' at his homestead.

Police members immediately responded and on their arrival, police were showed where the entrance was gained as well as the gate of the kraal that was cut with pliers and stock was taken out of the kraal.

The SAPS followed leads and traced to the direction of upper Nxaxa where they spotted the six suspects allegedly driving the sheep towards the mountain on horseback. A cross fire between the Police and the suspects occurred, but no one was injured. All suspect fled into the mountains leaving the livestock behind.

All 60 sheep were recovered and after the owner identified the stock it was handed over to him. There is no arrest at this stage.

Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members for the recovery. Your actions averted a crime robbing our people of their livelihood she said.
