Media Statement TSOLO - Information Team was conducting an operation on 11 September 2020 when they spotted a suspicious motor vehicle along the N2 from the direction of Mtata towards Qumbu. Members drove and overtook the bakkie with only the driver in transit. The vehicle was tested and it came out with a VW polo vehicle registration. Members turned into Tsolo junction and waited, luckily the driver of the bakkie also took the Tsolo route. Several attempts to stop the vehicle by showing the driver police appointment certificate and shouting 'police' were unsuccessful. The driver accelerated fast, driving reckless and facing oncoming traffic. Eventually the driver stopped the bakkie, jumped out and ran away with police hot on his heels on foot in town (Tsolo) successfully. A 52-year-old suspect residing at Makhubeni Locality Libode was charged for suspected stolen motor vehicle and is expected to appear in Tsolo magistrate’s court on Monday, September 2020. Eastern Cape Provincial Commissioner Lt Gen Liziwe Ntshinga commended the members for being alert. Ends
