Women from the various police stations and units within the Port Shepstone Cluster gathered under the auspices of the SAPS Women's Network to celebrate Women's Month last Wednesday.

The event was coordinated by the Msinsini SAPS Station Commander and Women's Network Champion, Lieutenant-Colonel Theresa Pillay.

The function started at the Park Rynie beach camping site with a welcoming and introductory talk by Lt-Col Pillay, whose message was about women taking up their rightful places in society and supporting each other.

Sister Wendy Pickering, representing Khanya Hospice, spoke on women's health issues and the services provided by hospice to terminally ill patients.

The women found the next item on the agenda interesting when Shireen Paul of the Scottburgh SAPS, took them through a routine of aerobic exercises interspersed with a few Zumba combinations.

All enjoyed a 5km walk from Park Rynie to the Scottburgh beachfront where crime awareness pamphlets calling for 'NO Violence Against Women' were handed out.
