Media Statement JAMESTOWN - In an effort to reduce and eliminate illegal drug use in our communities, on Tuesday, 15 September 2020, Aliwal North K9 Unit and Jamestown Vispol members arrested a 32-year-old suspect and confiscated illegal drugs of worth R4 100-00 estimated street value in total. The arrest came after the members attended to a complaint of a male that was acting in a disorderly manner in public. Whilst busy with the complaint, a source informed members that the male was in conflict with an alleged drug dealer of which he himself is also an active illegal dealer. Police followed up after hearing that there are drugs in his place of residence. The members then took the male to his place of residence to conduct a search with a narcotic dog (Rusty) of Constable Lebaka. The house was thoroughly searched and drugs were detected. The 32 year old male was then immediately arrested for Possession of Drugs. During the arrest, the following drugs were also confiscated: 8 x 200 grams sachet of Tik with a weight of 160 grams to the value of R1 600-00. 1 x 250 grams of Tik with a weight of 250 grams to the value of R2 500-00. The acting District Commissioner Brigadier Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the success. "Drugs are primary contributor to social crimes in our society including gender based violence. The arrest by members is therefore a step in the right direction to rid our communities off of illegal drugs and their use thereof," said Brigadier Adolph. Ends
