DURBAN - On 19 October 2021, Greenwood Park Detectives received information about a wanted suspect who was hiding in Pietermaritzburg.

The team proceeded to an informal settlement in Panorama where a 28-year-old suspect was found asleep with his girlfriend. He was placed under arrest.

Yesterday afternoon, the team of detectives proceeded to Mkhunya area in Highflats where the suspect pointed where he buried the body of a 15-year-old woman, he was last seen with. The human remains suspected to be that of the kidnapped girl were found in a school pit toilet in the Highflats area. The school has been closed for over two years. The body was recovered with the assistance of the Port Shepstone Search and Rescue Unit and Durban K9 Unit. An inquest docket was opened at Highflats SAPS.

The suspect is appearing before the Durban Magistrates Court today.
