Media Statement CLEVELAND - Members from the Cleveland police station Crime Prevention unit, Liquor and Second-hand goods unit, Sector Commanders and members from the Railway Police unit raided three (3) Illegal Shebeens on Friday, 23 October2020 from 12:00. One new shebeen in Langerman Drive Kensington was raided and liquor to the value of approximately R60 000.00 was confiscated. One person was arrested for dealing in liquor without a valid liquor license under the Gauteng Liquor Act. Following the arrest, the members went to a shebeen in Plantatie Street, Denver where a woman was arrested for dealing in liquor without a valid liquor license under the Gauteng Liquor Act. In this case, liquor to the value of R2000.00 was confiscated. Another suspect at a shebeen also in Plantatie Street Denver managed to escape when police raided his premises. At this premises liquor was also confiscated. The suspects will have a choice to pay admission of quilt fines or to appear in the Jeppe Magistrate’s Court on Monday morning, 26 October 2020.10.23 Ends
