On Saturday, 31 October 2020, a member of Maitland Flying Squad received information about a stolen vehicle, while he was still on his way to work. The member saw the vehicle in Woodstock area and pulled it over. On searching the vehicle a 9 mm pistol with serial number filed off, ammunition and a Rolex watch were found in the vehicle.

A 40-year-old suspect was arrested on charges of possession of stolen vehicle, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition and possession of presumably stolen property.

In an unrelated matter Cape Town Central Police arrested a 33-year-old man early this morning in Long Street, Cape Town, on charges of pointing of firearm.

During crime prevention patrols in Long Street the members together with other Law Enforcement agencies were stopped by the complainant who showed them the suspect who threatened him with a firearm.
