WESTERN CAPE – Police in this province remain committed to make the communities safe. Last night, police attached to Steenberg SAPS while conducting crime prevention patrols in Oboe street Retreat came across a man who started running when he saw the police vehicle approaching . Police gave chase and apprehended him, upon searching him, a 9mm pistol with its serial number filled-off and six rounds of ammunition were found in his possession. The suspect aged 28 will appear in Wynberg Magistrate's court on Friday, 13 November 2020. In an unrelated matter, on 2020-11-11 Barrydale police acted on information about a suspect who was in possession of ammunition, the members approached the suspect and searched him. A total of 34 rounds of ammunition were found in his possession. A 32-year-old man was arrested and is due to appear in Barrydale periodical court once charged. Meanwhile on Wednesday, police from Cape Town Central and other law enforcement agencies conducted an operation in the city centre. The team targeted cellular repairing stalls suspected to buy and sell stolen cellular phones. The operation was a success and it led to the arrest of two suspects aged 36 and 40 for presumed stolen property, 119 cellular phones were seized for safe-keeping. The suspects will appear in court today. Ends
