Media Statement CAPE TOWN - The Cape Town High Court showed no mercy when they slammed the 54-year-old Derick aka “Slang” Kalmeyer with 57 years’ imprisonment in connection with the brutal murder of three-year-old Faith Adams and her one-year-old brother, Conroy, during May 2019. On Wednesday, 01 May 2019 at 02:30, Derick “Slang” Kalmeyer murdered three year old Faith Adams and her one-year-old brother, Conroy, at Houtkapper Street, Vredenburg. On the morning of the horrified murders, Kalmeyer had an argument with the children’s mother, he turned his anger towards the children and stabbed Faith 19 times, she died on the scene due to injuries sustained. Conroy died in hospital after he was hit over the head with a beer bottle, stabbed 14 times and was flung through a window. Kalmeyer was sentenced on Monday, 24 June 2024 to 57 years’ imprisonment, life sentences for each murder, five years’ for assault and another two years’ for resisting of arrest. Western Cape provincial commissioner, Lieutenant General Thembisile Patekile commended the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Mzamo Mbovane for his sterling investigation and the National Prosecuting Authority for ensuring that Kalmeyer received the maximum sentence for his murderous acts.
