POLOKWANE - Police Minister, General Bheki Cele, is today visiting Limpopo Province as part of the annual Safer Festive Season Inspection tour. The visit forms part of efforts by the South African Police Service (SAPS) to tighten the grip on crime this festive season.

Accompanied by top management of the South African Police Service, MEC of Transport and Community Safety Mrs Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya, Local Mayor and Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers, the Minister is embarking on community engagement by visiting public places, also inspecting Police operations and multi-disciplinary roadblocks including the walkabout at the Beit Bridge Border Post, in order to assess the safety plans in place ensuring residents and holiday makers in the province are and feel safe during the holiday season and monitoring adherence of Covid-19 regulations.
