Media Statement POLOKWANE - The members of Limpopo Highway Patrol Team through the intensified parallel operations, keep putting more criminals behind bars across the province. This after the latest arrests of two suspects at different locations yesterday, Monday, 21 December 2020 for possession of illicit cigarettes and suspected stolen motor vehicle. The members patrolling in the Polokwane City, nabbed a 48-year-old suspect in the morning for possession and dealing in illicit cigarettes. The members acted on positive information about a foreign National suspected of selling illicit cigarettes at his shop in the CBD. Upon arrival, they searched the shop and found sixty (60) x 20 filters of Remington gold cigarettes with the estimated street value of R800-00. The suspect was arrested on the spot. In another operation conducted in the Mankweng area, members followed information about the existence of a suspected stolen motor vehicle driving towards Boyne. They promptly responded with assistance from Matrix tracking company. The said vehicle was stopped near Mankgaile village under Mankweng policing area. When circulated, the vehicle was found to be reported stolen at Bronkhorstspruit SAPS earlier this month. The 33 year old suspect was then arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle. The Acting Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers has applauded the various Police units for their endless fight against crime. The two suspects are expected to appear in Polokwane and Mankweng Magistracte's Court soon.
