The police in Namakgale outside Phalaborwa within the Mopani District had today conducted Gender Based Violence (GBV) awareness campaign and monitored COVID-19 regulations at Namakgale Crossing shopping complex.

The campaign was under the leadership of the Station Commander, Colonel Sesinyana Bila accompanied by the communication officer, Sergeant Lebogang Selepe.  The other stakeholders who participated in the campaign were the South African National Defense Force (SANDF), EMS and Traffic police.

The objective of the campaign was to ensure that members of the community adhered or comply with COVID-19 regulations. In addition, everyone was advised to report non-compliance of the regulations to the police such as sales of alcohol, parties and social gatherings.

The other essential issues that were highlighted included the following:-
* Sexual offences
* Human trafficking
* Housebreaking and theft
* ATM'S Scams
* Wearing of musk at all times
* Social gatherings and distancing
* Importance of sanitizing
* Strict compliance of curfew between 21:00 to 06:00.

Pamphlets were also distributed in relation to Breaking the Silence on Gender Based Violence and COVID-19 regulations.
