POLOKWANE - Six illegal immigrants were nabbed during the Safer Festive Season operation that was conducted in Mopani District on Tuesday 11 November 2025. The operation that commenced on 09:00 until 17:00 was executed by the members of Mopani Task Team at Letsitele policing area and led to apprehension of six male suspects aged between 19 and 32 for Contravention of Immigration Act. During the operation, a 32-year-old male immigrant was also found in possession of 20 cartoons of Royal Express brand cigarettes valued at R8400-00 and the charge of possession of illicit cigarettes was added against the suspect. The illicit cigarettes were found concealed inside the boxes at a supermarket in Tshihoko village. Furthermore, two illegal male immigrants aged 19 and 26 were also arrested at the same village whilst the other three illegal male immigrants between 24 and 32 were apprehended at a construction site in Mavele village. The suspects are expected to appear before the Ritavi Magistrate court on Thursday 13 November 2025 facing a charge of Contravention of Immigration Act and possession of illicit cigarettes.
Police investigations are continuing.
