On Tuesday at around 17:35 members assisted Community Policing Forum members when a white Mazda BT50 was pulled over on Benoni Road at Jatniel. Two (02) suspects, ages 18 and 25, were apprehended after it was discovered that the bakkie was carrying copper cables worth an estimated R100,000. Members patrolling Kempton Park on Thursday at around 13:00 noticed a white Chevrolet Aveo skip a stop street at corners Highveld and Partridge Roads. The vehicle with one (01) occupant was pulled over whereupon members noticed three (03) boxes of pain syrups on the back seat of the vehicle. The 26-year-old suspect was arrested after he could not produce documentation for the medicines valued at around five thousand Rand (R5 000.00). The same day at around 15:00, members following up information of a Scania truck transporting dagga to Mpumalanga intercepted it at N12 and Atlas Road offramp. Three (03) suspects aged 25 to 32 years were immediately arrested when four (04) large bags of dagga with an estimated value of around forty thousand Rand (R40 000.00) were recovered in the truck. Additionally, two (02) suspects aged 31 years were arrested in separate incidents at Pine Street, Brakpan and Kerk Street, Kempton Park. Crystal methamphetamine and mandrax were recovered during these arrests. Investigation continues in all cases. The suspects will appear in the local Magistrate’s Courts facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs, damage to essential infrastructure, possession of suspected stolen goods and contravention of the medical related substance Act.
