KIMBERLEY – A Passionate appeal was made to victims of sexual offences to break the silence and report the perpetrators.

The appeal follows the rape of a 16-year-old girl in Warrenton by a 76-year-old Traditional Healer.

The Provincial Head of Corporate Communication in the Northern Cape, Brigadier Mohale Ramatseba appealed to victims of sexual offences through SABC TV this afternoon to come forward. It is reported some victims are afraid to come forward out of fear of the perpetrators. Brigadier Ramatseba assured victims that there are measures in place such as opposing bail of the perpetrators in order mitigate victim's safety fears.

Victims were encouraged to contact Captain Gideon Ferrelson of Hartswater Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit at 071 675 0206.
